In a region already noted as among the most charitable in the nation, Thelma and David Steward stand out as leaders and philanthropists. Their deep love of God and the St. Louis community has led them to support organizations that make life better and healthier for people of all ages in neighborhoods across the metro area.
David is the Founder and Chairman of World Wide Technology. Although the company has enjoyed astounding growth and success internationally, David chose to keep its headquarters here, in St. Louis, the city he loves. Thelma, a graduate of the St. Louis Municipal School of Nursing, shares the same commitment to our community.
They have both been inspired by the examples of David’s parents and Thelma’s mother, Dorothy. Dorothy, an “Ageless Remarkable Saint Louisan” honoree in 2015 recalls, “as a young girl I watched my aunt send part of what little food we had to help neighbors in worse straits.” David’s parents raised him in a strong Christian household where, even though they did not have much too offer, they welcomed homeless people into their home for a hot meal. One of David’s favorite scriptures, Matthew 6:33 – Seek first the kingdom of God and all of righteousness, and everything else will be added unto you.
“The Steward Family donates thoughtfully and consistently to the causes they believe in,” says former St. Andrew’s CEO, Mary Alice Ryan. “Their impact on the community is enormous. We are grateful and blessed that they have chosen to support St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation and enrich the lives of seniors.”
